Guys, I have an EAD with which i will start my program ...but it turns invalid mid way thru my program. So will J-1 be issued for the rest of the odd months thereafter...how do such things work... I have missed my joining on July 1 due to terrible sickness and will be joining only 1.5 mths ..what are the consequences on my second fellowship the next year any insights are welcome..

i have EAD enroute to my green card... and that is renewable every year...!!! so what is the problem.... are there different kinds of EAD..???

GANESHA123, my problem is my spouse who is the principal visa holder will be completing job contract then and so I will be out of ead /my dependent visa . Our visa category has no GC provision.....

I would talk to the program about it. Usually they are the best source and have much more experience. About joining late, you will end up finishing your residency late. Hope that helps.

your situation asks for an opinion from immigration lawyer. As you are on J-2 visa, you will face difficulty in transferring to J-1 visa. If your spouse has secure j-1 waiver, you are eligible for H-1 visa- better option.
