Hi,
I heared that we can buy email ids of programs or program directors from websites,
If any body know answers of these questions please share with us.
1. How reliable and worthful are the email ids are?
2.Can any body suggest where from we can get them?
3. How much do they cost?
4. It is ok if mail Programs as CC OR BC copies at a single time.
Please let us know about this, as we dont have time to call each program, as we are busy with the exams,,

1) Email addresses of PDs are available on the website called FREIDA
http://www.ama-assn.org/vapp/freida/srch/1,1239,,.... Its free !
2) Usually when you are searching programs on FREIDA you will also find links to the residency programs. Application and eligibility criteria are listed here. If not, then you can email the program coordinators (PC). You have a better chance of getting a reply if you email the PC instead of the PD.
3) Emailing all the programs at once using cc and bcc.........I guess you can do it. Is it wise to do so ? I really don't know. I wouldn't do it.
No one really expects you to call / email every single program. Only contact the ones where the application /eligibility criteria is not listed or if you have any other legit questions.
There are websites that sell eligibility / application criteria. Don't know how reliable they are. Not having time .............Well kiddo........ I would suggest making some time to research programs. Your life depends on it.

why would you buy ID's if they are available on ERAS and FREIDA.

yes i would check on ama-assn.org website where u access frieda, u can find for whichever field and pd id's and so forth, best of luck!

I don't think it's a good idea to CC generic emails to numerous progs. If you want to stand apart and deserve an answer in their eyes, moreso a positive reply, you must address them by name, mention their specific prog in the body of your email. These show that you're being specific to their prog, as well as shows interest.
When match season get in to full swing, you will come to value personally addressed emails to you from the progs, rather than the bulk mailed ones!
The key to succeeding is to find time for the important tasks.

that's true paheli, but one could make a generic and then just copy paste copy paste and just add in name, that wy it is more personal rite?

But I did not CC one email to all the progs.

because when I mailed I just got the info which is generally se4nt to everybody I think

You can send a group of emails to one program. Put the program emails in the BCC function. Then send the email to yourself. All the program will see is their own email address.
But it doesn't bug me if I get an email asking about application criteria and their are lots of email addresses in it.
That's not something to sweat!

Yes, docdoc, I did get replies. Many were generic, usually as a attachment with the info. I was happy to even get this coz this info, in my opinion,would be more recent than on any website [there are some that haven't been updated for a while]
Then there were some where the person [a few times, even the PD!] would write the answer right next to my qn, one by one, in different color, so patiently. These were my favorite replies. I made sure to write an extra special thank you note to those.
