Kaplan Qbank USMLE

thanks ALLA'H ,,,

Hi every one , after about two monthes of waiting finally i got some releive .

my study scores :-

USMLEworld Qbank : 60%
USMLE free sample : 82%
Kaplan Q bank : don't remmember exactly but i think about 69 or 70 %
Kaplan simulated : 66%
NBME 6 : 520 , 224 one week befor
NBME 5 : 540 , 228 2 days befor

I have a question , why the 3 digit correlation with the 2 digit changed ? & what is that mean ? how it will be compared to poeple who took the test in the past ? coz in the past 223 was equal to 91 i guess , am i right ?

my advice for step 1 talker , USMLEWORLD is good , & NBME almost tell you what you will get in the real test , so you should get on it the score you aiming to get in real test or littile more to insure that .

i hope the success for every one ,,,

Mashallah! Congrats on a wonderful score! Can you tell us how you studied? How much time did you need and how many hours a day did you study? Also if you can tell us what books you used and what lectures (if any) you listened to, thanks!

congrats buddy!!
that some weird score changing system though.. they should atleast try to keep a same scoring system.. but 93/223 is kinda understandable keepin in mind that exam prolly got harder..
but the thing no justified is , as we jus saw in another thread , 78/192 and 81/185 .. how will they compare people with such erroneous scoring system? raised eyebrow

Thanks every one who replies & i hope for you the best !!!!!!!!

(SpeaksSoftly) : I studied for more than one year , but not a full time & some times interupting , at first i took a kaplan course & then i did kaplan Qbank , then feel i am not ready for the test & took some gab , whish is not good , then started on USMLEworld , first not serious & it take from me more than 4 monthes to finish it , some times i am littile lazy grin , but at the end i feel i have to be serious coz the time is running .
at the time of serious study i studied for about 10 houres , so i advice you to study seriously & concentrate on subject that you perform worse .

(ultradocmansu) : your examble you gave is really weired , but i think as you said the exam become difficult , not comparable to USMLEworld in my opinion , but not as I expected to be . especially the mean went up to 222 instead of 218 , am I right ?
in the other hand i think 3 digit score doesn't indicat how the test is diffecult , but the 2 digit do , hence if some one get an easy test & he score 223 he will get 91 for examble , but if you get a difficult one & you score 223 you will get 93 , this is what i though , so give me your idea ?

yeah it makes sense absolutely.. but the problem arises if program director asks u only ur 3 digit scores. and i keep hearing that program directors jus ask ur 3 digits scores , and give take 5 points on 3 digit scores doesnt make a difference for them. but with this system , there will be a trouble. an year ago , 99 started at scores 243 , yesterday it has dropped down to 236. and so does every corresponding 3 digit relative to 2 digit has fallen down.
considering an example , they made exam harder , and now if boards calculate that 93 an year ago is same as 93 today , they should make necessary changes to make 3 digit scores comparable too. the point is , a person who appeared year before us , is standing at 229 or 230 at 93/94 while we ' ll stand at 222/223 with same 2 digit score while according to percentile system , we both r graded same but we got a harder exam and so percentile went up for same 3 digit score.. and if program directors ask jus the 3 digit score , we r at the losing end..
in short , i dont know what the boards r keeping in mind . either they shouldnt have taught us biostats in this way , or they wanna say that biostats is only for books , rest all is erroneous p values mad

Thanks for the interesting points you mentioned , & I agree with you , if what i said about the 3 digit scor didn't tell about how the exam is hard , they have to make the 2 digit score is the one who compare between the applicant & advice the programmes directer about that . but since I am not sure if i was right on that , I hope some one who have a better idea about the USMLE scoring system some explanation on this issue .

(dowjunk)
Thanks for your kindness & hope for you the best .

(abummeis) :- thanks & i hope for you the best score too . To answer your questions , I recomend you to take a look at the USMLE offecial web site , there you gonna find the answer for all your questions , I am sorry cause i am not sure for all the question you got , after that if you got any other question I'll be glad to help .

(antidepressant) :- thanks for your words .

(gauri14) :- I didn't use golgian pathology , I just did kaplan , so I can't compare between them , but many poeple said golgian is good , also i find kaplan very suffecient for me , I think if you stick to one & studied it seriously it is good .
