New Software for Computer-based USMLE (posted July 15, 2008) A new version of the software used to deliver the computer-based USMLE™ Step examinations is scheduled to be introduced in mid-August 2008. Migration to the new version will occur first in the Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) examination, and will be phased in over several weeks. If you plan to take the Step 2 CK examination in August 2008 or later, you should familiarize yourself with both the current test delivery software and the new version. Orientation and practice materials using both the current and new versions of the software are available for downloading: www.usmle.org/Orientation/2008/menu.html If you obtained the 2008 orientation and practice materials in CD format from your registration entity, please note that the CD includes Step 2 CK practice materials using only the current software. To obtain Step 2 CK practice materials using the new software, use the link above. The change to the test delivery software will be accounted for in scoring the examination results, so that scores will be comparable to those of exams using the older software. Because of this change, it will be necessary to delay the reporting of scores for some examinees. The normal turnaround time for reporting scores to Step 2 CK examinees is three to four weeks. However, during this transition, turnaround time may be as long as six to eight weeks

When I took step 1, they were about to add the audio Qs. I am taking Step 2 on 8/9, hopefully my score report won't be delayed.

I have tried it and got 38/37/35 for me its more comfortable and my exam is in August as well the thing i liked most is-you can search lab value by typing word and it will be highlighted right away...so you don't have to look for it forever otherwise prety much everything is the same..... good luck to you all...

plus adding a calculator and i am getting skeptical about that. does any body know why they have to tell us only 1 month before. especially for those planning for that match, this is very noxoius. another Q what do they mean by mid August and why they dont give a specific date?

dr_student, Before I took my step 1 on 5/15, I got a similar message from NBME for the audio thing. But I still got my score in 3 weeks. Maybe you should contact NBME and see what they say.
