Here is something which I really cannot understand- If a program says that: INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATES ARE ACCEPTED, HOWEVER WE DO NOT SPONSOR VISAS OF ANY TYPE. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID WORK AUTHORIZATION, PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD OR US CITIZENSHIP. IF YOU ARE NOT A VALID PERMANENT RESIDENT OR HOLD A WORK AUTHORIZATION THAT HAS LESS THEN 9 MONTHS EXPIRATION DATE, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO OUR PROGRAM. YOUR FILE WILL BE REJECTED. Does this mean that they will not even support the J1 visa sponsored by ECFMG?.Please explain.

They clearly don't sponsor any type of VISA! No J1 Apply to a different Program if you are looking for visa sponsorship.

This is an important question. thanks for info. But whot about J1? For J1 is sponsored by ECFMG and the program does not need to do anything with visa. Could anybody else comment on this? I don't know if program says " We do not SPONSOR any type of visa", does it mean , J1 but not H1, or does it mean, if you look for visa, go to hell ! ?

I think they're talking about the H1B. Coz prog does not have to do much for J1, as ECFMG takes care of it. Why don't you call up the prog, wtmb? This is exactly the kind of qn and ambiguous answer that need clarification via phone.

No H's, no J's. No visas.

Medical school awards is about awards you won in med sch, related to your medical education. Other awards would include, like you said athletics, essay writing, speaking/elocution contests basically anything and everything else you won that was not related to medical subjects. And should include awards you won outside med sch as well, as they do not say 'other awards/accomplishments in med sch' Anyone else has a different interpretation?

I didn't put any courses I attended to, because that would have made my cv HUGE and extremely tiring to be read!

Hey, folks. If I do an observership but do not get a LoR from it for whatever reason [say, too short a duration], how best can I still use that in my application to influence me positively? Can I mention it in my CAF? Can I talk about it in my IVs? Thing is, I will not have any proof that I did it. But if I did do it, then I should be able to use it somewhere in my application right? Sorry for this strange qn. I seem to be the only one with all the wierd scenarios!

Paheli don't worry with your pesonality will be easy to get LoRs, it is not hard at all, depending on how you perform and participate it is possible to get a LoR in one week. Of course, you can describe your USCE under work or volunteer experience. Trust me you will get LoRs after your USCE.

Wow, Ivonne, thank you so much for your kind words. I really needed to hear that.....these days with CK stripping me of my pride and ego....I don't think I even have much personality left! I have an Obs for 2 weeks, but people told me it might be too short to yield a strong LoR. Have you really heard of 1-week LoRs? That's incredible. I truly hope you're right.
