A 30-year-old man comes to the physician because of an 18-month history of frequently falling asleep during the day while at work. He reports vivid hallucinatory dreams right after falling asleep at night, and on several occasions he momentarily felt as though his legs were paralyzed when he awoke in the morning. He recalls that his older brother frequently fell asleep at school. He denies use of alcohol and does not smoke. He is 178cm (5’10”) tall and weighs 72kg (160lbs); BMI is 23kg/m2. Physical and neurologic examinations show no abnormalities. Which of the following is the most likely diagnosis?

A) Narcolepsy
B) REM sleep behavior disorder
C) Restless legs syndrome
D) Sleep apnea syndrome
E) Sleep terror disorder
