aaah well.. i guess its the SMSing that's taken its toll!! i'l keep it in mind now on BBB..[smiling face]

anyways. i agree that you can not tell me what to do and what not to do, but you CAN tell me how to maximise my chances? that's wat i'm asking about. i mean. do i REALLY stand a chance now? how does this sound to you??

step 1 92. step 2 77, couple of papers published, few months of USCE with LORs..

PLEASE.. guide me with this.. i NEED to have a plan..and ... I need YOUR HELP..

u just said how to maximise ur chances, BBB said he/she can't tell u what to do, so stick with ur gameplan, which is to knock out step 3 with great scres, and programs will ask u what happened and they know ur human and u can explain esp if u step 3 will be stellar! so go with ur gut and stick with ur plan, get ur externships here, and get ur name published! sounds like a solid score, nothing is guaranteed, not even what bbb says, so i mean waiting for them to answer while putting ur life on hold.. not good idea.. get back on ur feet, ur a smart person who took these exams all the while in school. u'll have new graduate on ur resume, and usce and lors from here, and published research.. so what if one score is lower, so u were not well that day! programs understand ur human too, they're not god either, no one is except god himself, rite?? raised eyebrow

best of luck!nod

well... you need someone to give you a plan???

ok.. so listen to me... your opportunity of having a residency in the US are slim, dont apply and save some money...

will you accept that plan??? i hope no...

you will have a plan.. like you said.. you have time... think well..

good luck in the 2010 match!!

I think he didn't want anyone to guide him to follow.
He just want some more information and opinion from variety of people so he can make the best decision on his own. smiling face

Step 3 most programmes don't look at it as a criteria for choosing residents. It helps you to get an H1b Visa. But there is no harm in trying. It is more clinical and if you do well it shows that despite going poor in your clinical step 2, u still have what it takes. But I don't think it will be the biggest factor.
Your Step 1 scores is very goood and will help you to make the cut becos most programs look at this score instead of Step 2(becos most Americans don't have this scores yet).

I think you will do fine if u are able to publish and get some American hand on experience with letters from America. And u have to be realistic...the 2nd score damagd your chances with Harvard and Hopkins...so apply Broadly strong/mod/acceptable programmes. If somebody tells you that u shd give up your dream and you give up then maybe you don't deserve to be in America.

U will def do IM in USA
