Hi guys..

i started studying biochemistry a week ago from kaplan lecture notes and its awful!! i cant understand anything! b4 that i did kaplan physio and it was easier and understandable but i just can t understand kaplan biochem
so i decided to get another book instead and i thought of RR.
i just wanna know what do u guys think?
is the text in RR simpler than biochem?
is it good?
and does RR have molecular biology like kaplan or i need another book for that?

thanx alot

Hi.
I was almost in the same situation, but believe me, take it easy....this is my second biochemistry reading and I'm still failing some topics....the first reading is like you describe, so...be patient....digest it, re-re-re-re-read....you know what I mean?

I can't help you about a comparison between kaplan and rapid review, but I think Kaplan is definitively a good source.

Hope You don't get confused about my words...and let's wait another answer. Good luck.nod

Hi. I'd say go ahead with RR biochemistry. I have somewhat read it and it seems to be more understandable than Kaplan biochem. The other plus point of RR biochem is that the co author is Dr. Goljan, the same person who wrote RR pathology. In the end it's your choice what you want to read. This is what I felt about it. Good luck smiling face

Definitely use Lippincott's Illustrated Review for Biochem. It should be your bible for biochemistry. Its quite long but its definitely unmatched for its info. If your pressed for time then BRS is a good substitute. The red edition, not the green (the green has many errors)!

Seyyedo, if you have problem understanding any topic in biochemistry, pose the question here. I will try my best to help you. As far as I know, Kaplan biochem is concise and informative. You might need some background knowledge, and I can help you in that.

Guys, just listen to the Biochem lectures by Dr. Raymond. You won't need anything else. He is a very good teacher.

lippincott biochem is great. however, it seems like that book is overkill for the boards. I think kaplan should suffice if you did well or rmember anything frmo your biochem class in school
