I took CS on July 1 (in the testing period 5/18-7/5). If I do okay (not borderline performance), should I expect my report on or after Aug 6? Just curious.

Hi Cherry,
remember me? It´s Anne.
I think you could expect it on August 6th, the people I know got their score on the report date. Since the summer is a bit jammed up there could be a delay. I don´t know.
I´m waiting for my CK score, since it´s the 3rd Wednesday after, but I´m also prepared for a delay.
Still prepping for CS on 7/31. Getting excited and a little nervous.
Do you have some last minute prep tips for me?
Good luck with your defense next week!
Best,
Anne

Hi Anne,

1. Just keep your composure. Don't get nervous and don't LOOK nervous. You don't necessarily have to smile all the way but it's better not to look tense.

2. The first two cases are important. If you don't do well then you'll keep thinking about that during the rest of the exam. So I would suggest you to cut them short to avoid running out of time. When you hear the 5 min warning you should at least start the physical exam. I think it's important to think about what exams to do and not to do for each case when you are practicing. Make sure you use your time wisely.

3. Use the hand-washing time to either ask questions or summerize the cases.

4. Be FOCUSED about history-taking. Don't ask unnecessary questions (such as urinary symptoms in a palpitation case). In my exam there was always one clue in each case which led to one specific diagnosis.

5. digital doc has some nice mnemonics. Good to know them in case your mind turns blank when you are too nervous.

6. Counseling: it's not just about smoking/drinking/drug abuse. Exercise and diet counseling are also not appropriate in emergency cases. Be more specific in each case. Inform the SPs if you think it's an emergency and you want to hospitalize them (be more like a real doc).

7. Closure: at least tell them some differentials. Don't let them feel you know nothing until the tests are done.

I have confidence in you. I am sure you'll do well. smiling face Try to loosen up on the exam day and prepare to kick other people's butts. sticking out tongue

Wish you the best.

Thank Anne and Dr. puma for the nice words. If I pass I'll write more about the whole exam experience.
