I am writing this for all the people waiting for the reuslt.
I took my step 1 on 28 december and step 2 on 6 june. I got 99/245 in step 1 and 99/248 in step 2, but each time after the exam I felt as if I did not do well in the exam. I felt as if I will fail or will not get good score. If you are feeling the same way, this is what I will suggest "Do not worry, If you did good in NBME and USMLE world just trust yourself. Even if you feel horrible after the exam you will still get great score." Now that I have got the results I feel I wasted a lot of time worrying for result, I could have enjoyed during this time and have used it. Anyhow, I know it is easy to say it but still I think if yor are waiting for your result just try not to think of result. Go OUT ENJOY WITH FRIENDS, WORK, WATCH MOVIES, DO WHATEVER YOU LIKE BUT DON'T THINK ABOUT THE EXAM.

Hey cool_doc,
Congratulation on ur great score, it is really a happiest day for u.
In the morning I turned on my computer and saw ur score, I feel really very happy for u. With double 99, it is the height of big achievement. You and godfather r right that after exam it is natural to be worried about because half of questions we just make good guesses. But it is also right that NBME score gives us some surety of our score in exam.

Hey cool_doc2007! congrats. thats great score u got. i just recently gave my step 2CK. i am so bloody terrified about the results. i hope whatever u have said turns out right. i got 99/241 in step 1 and hoping for a good one in CK. thankx for the post. feeling better!!!

Why do most people have a feeling that can be only decribed by George Carlin's seven words after the USMLE exams?
One may ask, How do you know that "MOST" examinee have that kind of feeling? There are people who think they did well and indeed got a good score; people who don't think they did well but got a score; people who think they did well but got a lousy socre; people who think they did not do well and indeed did not do well; and the best of all, people who stop thinking of the exam after it is over. What are the percentages for each group of people?
No direct statistics is available. But there is some indirect evidence in this forum. Many of us thanked God after we got the scores. Why, we were busy in preparing the exams. No time to pray God. Felt left out by God after the exam. Then the score turned out to be good. Understandably, God was thanked. Nice to have the credit without doing anything.
Back to the first question, why do we think we did not do well? One possibility is that most questions were answered by the bicep reflex. Only those tough questions were actually registered and processed by the brain. After the exam, all those tough questions swirl in the brain. Of course, with the help of the textbooks, the brain found out that it got most of those questions wrong. By extension, the brain thinks it failed most of the test. The brain can be dumb. The second possibility is that the brain was overused, over-cafeinated before the exam. After the exam, the brain feels depressed even there are no tough questions swirling around, especially the money for coffee was used to pay the CS exam.
