Previous Topic | Next Topic  Date on LoR coversheet???

I got 3 of my LORS before the AAMC ID was available and I am not waiving my right on them. Now my worry is that those letters were written in late june. My question is:

1. Do I still have to submit Cover sheets with every LOR even though I donot waive my right on it?

2. What date should I write on the LOR Coversheet, the one on which it was written (i.e sometime in late june) or when I got my AAMC ID (which was in July)?

Anyone??

it does not matter what date you put on it.

it is nice to put a cover lettte with each letter for the sake of ease of identification. that is all. if you dont, the letter should have your aamc no. if it does not, then i will advise you to make sure you attach a cover letter with your aamc number per letter. you will tick on it that you have not waived your right.

As far as I know........
1) Every LOR should have a cover sheet with it.
2) Every mail you send to your dean's office should have a DSF with it
3) The date on the cover sheet should be the date you mail your documents, not when the letter was written.

Thanks for clearing my doubts.

Not true... Date on the LOR request form should be before the date on the LOR itself, because you request LOR first, and then it is written. But on DSF you will have a current date...

@Justice: That would be the case if someone is waiving his right so it seems ok and makes sense but if it is not waived like the case with me so i think it would make more sense if it bears the same date when its mailed because in that scenario this coversheet is meant more for ECFMG to sort out rather than its importance for the letter writer.

This is an email reply I got from eras-support@ECFMG.org in response to my querry about using old LORs and what date should I put on the cover sheet..............

Dear Doctor,

Thank you for contacting ERAS Support Services at ECFMG.

The date on the LoR coversheet should be the current date and not the date that the LoR was written.

You can submit a LoR from 2002 and ERAS will accept it however we encourage all applicants to obtain current up-to-date letters to improve their chances of obtaining a Residency position.

Sincerely,

ERAS-Support Services
