Hi all.

I really wanted to know from those who began intern year last week: How is it?. I know it's too soon to say. But that's exactly what i wanted to ask. What's your initial impression of the orientation course? and your first week of being in a US residency?

Please share your stories. whether stressful, exhausting, routine or even funny. We're eager to know.

Thanks a lot. And, good luck for the rest of this grueling year!

From a program coordinator point of view, I have seen exactly 2 interns this week. Busy on the floors, but they are still smiling!

Do you mean to say, that only two have joined so far?! raised eyebrow

I'd love to know how the 'interns' (specifically IMGs) are finding the residency.. Is it getting close to the 80hr mark already? sticking out tongue

No, two have found time from their duties with patients to come to the office and see me.

intern year is tough my friends, I started in the ICU. Just came back from the hospital and all I can say is that living the dream is demanding.
I guess it is harder now since I am just learning a new system and I am not used to all the paperwork and the constant idea of getting sued, otherwise is really cool all the nice goodies you can get your hands on for procedures.

Ive had rough times, but I dont regret it! I am living my dream...

That's great, mazinger! I esp appreciate the fact that in spite of you stating your difficulties and anxiety, you continue to remember that this IS indeed your dream! In fact, I think you're living all of our dreams. Have a great time! smiling face

Hope we get more experiences.

Give it a month or two, it will get easier. You'll know how to order the tests, which forms to use for what, where the stairwells are and where they go. It will only get easier.
