The splicing of primary gene transcripts in eukaryotic cells is most likely to have which of the following effects? A) Decreased stability of mRNAs B) Generation of hybrid (chimeric) mRNAs C) Increased repertoire of gene products D) Increased size of mRNAs E) Rearrangement of cellular genome

hi all.. dont u think E seems quite right. as by splicing it means taking off the introns.. so by this way some times while splicing some of d exons may get lost. thereby making new gene arrangement.. may be i m wrong but i think this can b d rite one.

I also think its E and agree with the whole VDJ thing.. The only difference is that VDJ occurs in dna and the regular splicing is in premrna; even though both are in nucleus.

I Think is D. During splicing u can obtain a larger protein that is not functional but it is able to produce a immunological reaction.

splicing can increase protein maybe, but how can splicing increase MRNA ?

more likely C alternative splicing…” for eukaryotes it was a very important step towards higher efficiency, because information can be stored much more economically. Several proteins can be encoded in a DNA sequence whose length would only be enough for two proteins in the prokaryote way of coding. Others have noted that it is unnecessary to change the DNA of a gene for the evolution of a new protein. Instead, a new way of regulation could lead to the same effect, but leaving the code for the established proteins unharmed.””
