Ok, stipend. What you received as stipend during a 3yrs residency program covers several times what you spend for residency application process. Now, there is no fee for doing residency. You receive a compensation instead. However, there are indeed fees and expenses for all the prior steps you have to go through in order to be eligible to apply for a residency position. For instance: USMLE steps: $2600 (Steps 1, 2ck and 2cs) + travel/lodging = $4000 + books/study material = $5000. Now, ERAS/Match application process expenses will vary depending on how many programs you apply to. Also, they'll vary according to the number of interviews you'll be attending. So, these expenses might vary from $1000 to $8000. To sum up: total expenses you''ll undergo in order to get everything ready to apply for residency will range grossly from $6000 to $13000. You don't have to pay to work as a resident. You'll be paid about 40,000 a year approx. I hope this clarifies your doubts.

I pressumed the person asking about the residencies fees was interested in post graduate expenses.

residency is post graduate training.. you work as a resident and get paid ($40,000/annum or more)..just like in your own country ;you complete a post graduate training in a specialty and while you are working you get paid....At the end of the training, you take BOARD exams (which you pay for) and then you are a board cerified physician.
