places we dnt like to go for residency but we still apply as a backup should be interviewed first or last?
first--just for having interview experience
last--as we wd judge by then that we are not going to get at desired place by then..

Don't think too much in advance, man. Just concentrate on the application stuff first. It's about 3 months to go before beginning of interview season.

No!! It's a waste of your time and money and a waste of time and resources that could go to an applicant that wouldn't mind joining that residency.

well said by bbb as always.

You should apply to and interview at places where you wish to join ... It is not a drill....

also when you make your ROL, always rank the places where you would like to go. Or you will just feel miserable in that place and make your colleague's life miserable as well. Residency is a family outside home; you should be comforatble with the environment and colleagues.

Thanks Moozy - this is so right on the swarvoski button!! If you aren't happy with your residency, it will reflect in everything that you do and say and behave for the years of your residency.

nodnod Totally agree , cause all IMGs apply every where , every speciality even though they do not like it at all , that makes other IMGs in doing so same so to get the spot they like but with lots of back up application to be sure he/ she will also get the spot .
At the ends it will just makes allof IMGs ends up spending lots of money , time by applying alot of places more than they like to .

Hope this trends will change , ie we IMG have to break this trend , so will not ends up applying lots of unnecessary sites .
What if USA have rules like Canadain .. one speciality at a time at each yr of the application , also in one province only sticking out tongue , so guys please do not over use freedom of application to more than one speciality or few that you like in USA , be resonable to apply places , speciality that you will like to be in .

Thnx coolsmiling face

GL nod
