If you see neck vein distention you think of:

Tamponamiento cardiaco
pneumothorax
CHF

what else can give you neck vein distention?

There are many conditions which can give rise to distension of neck veins.

First we divide them into pulsatile or Non pulsatile

Non Pulsatile neck veins :
  1. Thrombosis of SVC
  2. following pace maker or defibrillator
  3. Bronchial neoplasm
  4. mediastinaol tumor like lymphoma ,thymoma
  5. fibrosing mediastinitis
  6. right atrial /pericardiac tumors

Pulsatile JVD
  1. CCF
  2. over transfusion
  3. Cor pulmonale
  4. Tricuspid regurgitation /stenosis
  5. pericardiac effusion
  6. Constrictive pericarditis
  7. PE
  8. restrictive cardiomyopathy
