friends don't be fooled by claims of many people that this is a very simple exam which can be passed by 1 wk preparation.
though it is true that many people pass with just one week preparation.bcoz they already posses qualities to pass even without preparation.
many people miserably fail,bcoz this exam is all about COMMUNICATION(nonverbal mainly) and INTERPERSONAL SKILLS.MOST PEOPLE WHO FAIL IN CS FAIL IN THIS COMPONENT. i belive this is the most difficult to develop esp.in a short span of time.
we read on forums that many students making so many silly mistakes in history taking and physical exam and still passing. bcoz this is not about test of those abilities,and also most importantly more than what u do, HOW U DO IT is more important which is not expressed on forums.this exam is all about making the patient feel comfortable and how well u impress them and how closely u behave and look to real US clinician.
let us see why this is the most important exam of our life

IF DO NOT ALREADY HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MASTER IT ESP. IN FEW WEEKS
MOST CRUCIAL TO PASS THIS EXAM IS PRACTISING LIVE WITH A GOOD PARTNER
AND ALSO IT IS MOST DIFFICULT TO GET A PARTNER TO SUITE UR TIME AND PLACE
THIS TEST IS ALL ABOUT NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION WHICH CANNOT BE PRACTISED ONLINE.

I planned my step 2 ck in december , and then i will have months and a half for step 2 CS (plus full time work), and I am worried taht it might not be enough...Don't understand how people can say one week for the exam. I agree we all don't have same basic level, but then one week is not enough to consolidate, organize yourself, get materials, get in the mood, practice , practice and practice....
Hope people will stop pretending that they are smarter than they really are and tell the truth...
If its communication I will not have many problems
but then you need to put 5 possible diagnosis as well?! Or that is what I heard?

thanks for useful information
actually i gave my cs in april n failed in cIS
i want to know basically wat is CIS....
i did all the regular gestures properly did counselling in all....
wat i dint do was i dint complete 3 cases on time....i mean i did counselling but not closure
is closure also included in CIS?
and is it very important to complete all cases in time....
coz i think tht is the only thing i was lacking
kindly explain....i hav my exam in 3weeks...want to do good this time

i think more imp.than closure is the overall impression u create.
it is very difficult for one to assess his own CIS
IF possible just video record ur practice with ur friend and watch urself
things will look different
CIS is all about others assessment ur body language
go through niraj's notes
dont loose hope u can practice CIS way they need.

pipi99, I'll tell u I put away a month for this cs exam thinking I'm only average & others are better thatz why they do two weeks n' plus like u said, it takes time to gather materials n' mentally prepare as well....
but I think I wasted my time by putting away a month....max. a person needs is 2 weeks to prepare for this exam (as in thoroughly, using everyday to practice) & maybe 3 weeks if you're thinking of gathering the materials, finding a partner etc. etc....n' I"m an average average student...
