A 45 year old Chinese man who has recently immigrated to the States is brought to the psychiatry clinic terrified that his Penis is retracting into his body and he is convinced that it will disapper into his abdomen and kill him....and he is sue that it has been caused by his excessive masturbation..
He claims he is using clamps to prevent the retraction.....
on examination the patient is extremely anxious....

What is your Diagnosis?

he is having a bizzare delusion. i am not sure whats the significance of him being an immigrant is in this case, either that his history of schizophrenia is unknown n cuz of non compliance of meds he is having his sx. or that immigrants r more prone to psychotic diseases esp anxiety disorder in general cuz of culture shock.

Poor immigrants...no?

Well...good try......i doubt they could go so tricky on Psych cases cause you need criteria for diagnosis...You can't tell this patient has schizophrenia cause he has nothing but this delusion....
and not the fact that he is an immigrant that counts but that he is Chinese...

A Psych disease seen more frequently in souteast asia and china......
and it is called Koro and is exactly like in this patient ......a terrified patient concerned about his penis and doing anything possible to keep it out....

Actually it's more common in South Eastern Asia than in mainland China
