Hi! I have been studying for Step 1 on my own for quite some time now. However I am thinking of taking a USMLE course. I havent decided for sure. I logged on to kaplan's website and they have a ton of courses listed under them. Which one do people take for step 1? Is there any affordable course in New York? I am living in New York. Any input regarding courses for USMLE Step 1 will be appreciated. Thanks!

I have been ponder the same question actually, which USMLE course to take. I did research and came up with this course called Falcon Review. I picked this one because the average scores received by students were higher than Kaplan and also because Dr. Goljan teaches for Falcon. There are a lot of pluses for this course review...check them out for yourself...google: Falcon Physician Review. Also let me add, as a first year student, I was studying BRS only for my shelf exams. BIG MISTAKE! As an experiment, for my last shelf exam, which was biochemistry, I studied soley from Kaplan, didn't finish the book but scored high; so Kaplan helped a lot. BTW, I'm from the New York area as well, but I will be traveling to PA for the review class. Hope this helps! GOod luck.

Is there something available in the New York area itself? I have a home here and its really inconvinient to be travelling to another state just to take a USMLE course. Also, most of these courses cost around $3000-$4000....!!! Is there anything cheaper. ....otherwise may be we should form some kind of study group in New York where we can all recite the material and keep each other motivated as well.
