so i've heard different things for the ideal candidate for residency....i've heard 3 years, also 5 years.after graduating from med school is ideal... they say residen. programs look for img'z who haven't lost touch with medicine & acertain "amount of years" away from medicine can make it or break it? how many years? you also need to show what you've done meanwhile till the time you've applied for residency, n' i got nothing... (i hope after the ck i can start w/ reserach n' observeships, etc) this has gotten me tense coz i'll have 4 years under the belt by the time I apply next year's match (match of 2010).... i also realize there are many people out there who graduated long back n' got into residency (hatz off to them!! honest!) but i jus wana know about the ideal, as in the average img candidate....the reason I'd like to know is, I don't have an exciting step 1 score (86) n' I know I'll jus have an average ck score so I'll be really swimming deep in the competition since I don't have anything to show for.... your thoughtz guyz?
