I have my heart divided in 1/2 between IM and FM. I can see myself being a happy good doctor in both. I hope I'll be interviewed by both and be able to decide then. But since I'll (hopefully)rank both, can somebody tell me: what difference does it make the order I write them? Aren't the PDs the ones who decide right now?

if you are in rank order list of both programs than you will get matched at a program higher on your list. Thats why they say " List the program you want to be in, higher in your list, not the program where you have more chances"

dr_nalayak: It helped a lot, thank you. It's funny, every time I read one website, I think "this is it!", then I read about one of the specialties or the other website, then I think "this is it!" and every time I set my foot in one of the hospitals I feel "I belong here, I can see myself working already!" Now I have to have faith in God's way to guide me through it and help the three of us decide the best (the 2 PDs and I).
