hey guys, took my exam yesterday at the atlanta centre. i made a lot of mistakes. we all do. but just want to know if my mistakes could fail me. things i did well- knocked/ greeted well/ draped all/ washed hands/ completed almost all the encounters/ helped the pt lie down get up/ counselled for smoking/safe sex / english was fluent etc things i missed- in my first case i got very nervous bcoz pt was mad at something, very uncooperative....i came out in 6 minutes!!feeling miserable outside with the PN. i dint have to do any PE in that. dint know what to write in PN!! next case i felt better , but after washing my hands i realised that i missed PAMHUGSFOSS...somehow just managed the situation did PE and closed it ; missed carotid ascultation in a case where it was imp. ; missed a lot in PNs; couldnt make a sensible d/d in a couple of cases; dint do well in the phone case, came out in 6-7 minutes. i'll accept my result. if i pass, the margin would be narrow. if i fail, i'll prepare again and take it................did anyone have similar feelings after the exam?

oh my.... it sounds a lot like my experience..... did all the usual stuff.... greeting, draping, washing hands, counseling, etc.... but when it came to the actual PE, forgot many things and even forgot to write what i did do on the PN.... i keep remembering details i forgot (or think i forgot) during the exam and wondering if i mentioned it to SP, or if i imagined the whole thing.... guess we have to wait till august to find out.... hang in there, from what i've heard.... its a common feeling after this exam.... no use in worying about it now, just PRAY!!!!! (sorry, i know this is easier said than done... i haven't put down my copy of FA for CS since the exam - i keep checking up on myself)

Guys Relax..! You both know it and i'm sure you have told someone or the other at some point that it's OK to feel like that after the exams.. We tend to remember what we did wrong, more.. Relax.. You'll pass... Wish you luck for the result and the match!!

5-FU its like u were talkin for me i did all the things that didnt require thinking, the things u just do out of reflex as a result of practice like the knockin and draping and washing, but wen it was time to actually implement anything i was found wanting. didnt check throat in sore throat, didnt check ear in earing loss, as if it wasnt bad enough, the cases i did romberg i dint put it down in the patient note and few days after i was thinkin of whether i asked the kids mum about rash or if i just imagined it. missed d diagnosis completely in one and by the time i realised i was in the train goin home so i guess i couldnt do much about that. i am worried i have to say cos if i fail i cant match for 2009 and a lot of things in my life depends on my matching in 2009 (sounds dramatic but not kidding..lol) oh yeah i couldnt get myself to smile at the patients cos there was just nothin to smile about. and u would not beleive it, my friends call me "happiness" cos i am always smiling BUT NOOOOOO not ON THE EXAM DAY!!!

Hey Lakshya, I took exam 3 weeks ago and it's so universal to feel like what you are feeling right now. Believe me I could count >100 mistakes (atleast 10 in each case) for a couple of days after exam. Now I've suppressed (?repressed?) all the thought about exam and am keeping myself busy with more important things. I think we're gonna get the report on same day so GL to you and all the buddies waiting for report.

hey deja_vu, all the best to u too for the results! yah i guess, ERAS application process is a good distractor....USMLE steps look so "small" if one takes the whole matching process into account and they seem to be the easiest and the most predictable part of the whole process now. lets hope we all end up in residency progs. of our choice.... GL

hey genbot, thanks buddy ! ur predictions on step-1 scores proved right for so many friends.....i hope thats works for me too! toolazy....they serve u sandwitches(veg/non-veg), noodles, fruits ,cookies , tea/coffee...i liked the food but dint feel like eating much..... you wont need to spend any money. i dont think there is any cafeteria on the floor where the centre is..i did see a vending machine but i dont think its a good idea to drink much on that day,coz u rnt allowed to use the toilets except during the breaks... Abt cheap places to stay - i know a good lodge where i practised with my friend n stayed for 2 nights after my exam. its in the emory univ area just opppoiste the CDC building. its cheap n people are very friendly. From there, MARTA's bus no. 6 take u too MARTA'S LINDBERG TRAIN station in 10 minutes, then u can take trains to other stations n go to downtown atlanta n see CNN centre/coke plant/acquarium. the public transport system in atlanta is pretty good. here is the link for the lodge- http://villa-atl.org/index.php
