Thats great. I think the Gyn match last year was pretty brutal. Hopefully we have better luck this year. Good luck with the CK and CS. Hope the prep is going good.

I haven't started contacting prograns yet. Probably in the next couple of weeks. The APGO website is pretty good. It has a lot of useful and current info but some programs haven't been updated. And i think some programs are not listed ( cross-checked it with ERAS), very few though. http://www.apgo.org/residencies/

well for one thing, the APGO site has number of residents and number of IMG residents (for the past 4yrs). Most program website will say one thing, but i think those numbers speak for themselves. I'm not saying its a all or nothing, but at least u know. Also, they have the number of position available for match and number that matched. If u take all these info together; -total residents per yr -number of positions available for match -number of positions that filled with match you can figure out whether they accept prematches for example or at least fill spots outside the match. i guess you could also call or email them

Hi Kajol, No-one's package is 100% complete. The attempt in step 1 will probably cause some issues, look on the bright side. U came back and blew it the heck away. Plus you have green card and 3 yrs ObGyn experience. I think you should definitely apply to ObGyn. No reason to give up without trying. Cause then u'll never know. Better "i tried and it didnt work" than " i wonder if i'd have applied to ......" here's a quote from a post by GriMMjoW. I like this person's attitude already :-)(http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/68161/8/) "was just wondering, seems like most of he dudes here are applying for IM is it cuz it s less competitive? maybe i should go for ortho... maybe no one is applying due to fear and maybe i d get in? haha.. just a point to ponder"

Hi Kajol, No Problem. I'm not taking step 3. Will consider doing it after the match. i dont think it's going to help my application because i dont need visa. but if match goes well, then i'd like to do it before i start, just so i dont enter blank. plus i think it'll be better to get it out of the way. one less thing to worry about, right? good luck with study. you'll rock it.

hi guys! could use some advice here. from all that you guys have written about, obgyn seems like an impossible thing to do. i am a 2005 grad working in australia in o/g for about 2 years and am keen on an obgyn residency at the 2010 match. have cleared my cs and am taking the written ones this nov and next may ( i know, its all a bit of a mess! ) . i am looking at j1 residencies to get into at this point in time.......what are my chances ( obviously assuming a half decent score )......... look fwd to hearing from you all.

Hi Kajol And fight back you did. i dont have the statistics but i can bet that only a very very very small percentage of people who retake the exam obtain a 99 but u did. The reason for interviews is to get to see if you fit with the program. persistence and hardwork are traits that u obviously have. It takes a lot more than scores to be a good doc, and i'm sure anyone that inerviews you will see ur dedication (Plus, u did come back and aced the exam) Of course some programs will screen on score and attemp criteria, but thats not something you can control now. You can however try to focus on ur step 3 in 3 weeks. No-one can be "the perfect candidate", we all have to work with what we have. Don't lose hope before you even start. Will pray for you too. Good luck Kajol,

Thanks a lot bolaji.actually it was destined to be like that.i cant blame on anything except my destiny and the circumstances(death of my own family member 10 days before the exam) in which i took the exam in previous attempt.we have to accept every challenge we face in our lives......i ll accept whatever is there for me in my fate. Have faith in Almighty n keep going................. good luck n take care
