D, dilation of pulmonary bronchioles is required during an acute asthmatic bronchospasm is predominantly produced by short- acting Beta - 2 selective agonist like Terbutaline, Albuterol. It is used for life- saving & should not recommended for prophylaxis.
Drug X: Terbutaline or Albuterol

Prophylaxis: Long acting Beta - 2 agonist like Salmeterol.
