Hi
I am an IMG graduated in 2006.I want to do im.My husband is a doctor doing final yr fellowship.I dont have any usce.My husband got job offers from 2 places. We prefer the big city over the underserved area, but my husband is willing to take the job in the rural area if externship in private hospital can fetch me an im residency.
The one in rural area said they can give me externship for a month or 2 if my husband takes the job
.My score are 81,95,cs pass research in a famous hospital for 6 months
.Do you think externship in private hospital will help me in getting residency?I want to stay with my husband and 15 month old son.Or does externship in a private hospital has no value? My other option is do observership in urology in a university hospital. My relative works there as urologist. But he doesnt have contacts with IM.I don't know what to do?
Please guide me
Thanking you

Any USCE is better than none. Does the pvt hospital train residents? That's always a plus.

If its any consolation I'm a 2002 grad and all my experience is with pvt practices. This will be my first attempt at matching but lots of people get residencies with USCE in pvt practices. It depends on your overall CV. USCE is only one aspect.
