patient with CHF develops pleural effusion on the right side. you do thoracocenetesis and comes up + for transudate

I tought that as general rule
both lungs= transudate
one lung= exudate

so this general rule does not work?

yes I know we have to see the results from the thoracocentesis.

sorry, I don´t think this rule works. Rules always work with exceptions.
I think this is one of them.
I wouldn´t call it a rule maybe more a "likelihood"wink
When´s your exam?
Mine is Tue ....confused

ACTUALLY IT`S LIKE THIS .. WHEN IT`S 2RY TO ASCITIS IT`S COMMON TO BE RIGHT SIDE DT. CHANNELS BETWEEN PERITONIUN & THE RIGHT PLEURA , STILL THIS IS TRANSUDATE & UNI. LAT.
ALSO IN MEIGS DISEASE IT`S UNI. LAT. RT. PLEURAL TRANSUDATE 2RY TO ASCITIS ..

if only one criterion for transudate is not met - it's exudate, look careful
if transudate, but can't find the cause - PE, PE can be trans or ex
