question #1- in less than 5 months of studying time: if you use an adequate review book, or books, - will FA seem to be easier? Or should i bite, and just struggle struggle struggle with FA since it's best to know it well for the step .
question #2- if you have your kaplan book, do you think its good enough as it is, or do you think you need the extra notes added into it that u got from the video lectures ?

FA is never to be used as the ONE AND ONLY ONE SOURCE to ace this exam.
FA is the gist of all important concepts and facts that keep appearing again and again on the exam. and NOTHING ELSE. Even FA authors themselves state that it should only be used as a supplement and NOT AS A SUBSTITUTE. If u use it as a substitute..thats what happens... one tends to STRUGGLE understanding concepts and applying them.
Kaplan LN are the best out there which cover almost every concept and topic. Videos dont have anymore information than the ones written in Kaplan LN , but what they do is make u understand their notes comprehensively..Once u listen to videos, these notes make much more sense than previously and the format of the notes is such that u can remember them easily. Their pharmac and micro books are the best written..Also are the physio and behav sci books...with patho being the worst written...SO NO EXTRA NOTES from videos per se.
PASS PROGRAM notes and videos are rated the worst by many IMGs whom i know have taken it... They cant even make u pass this exam it seems... I have no idea wat it is , myself.
So,
shun the ideas of FA ALONE STRATEGY.
shun the ideas of pass program course
shun the ideas of making this prep easier
Take ur KAPLAN LECTURE NOTES .
Open ur Lecture videos.
Listen and make sense of the notes.
Try completing it systemwise as it unconsciously makes u easy for integrating concepts form diifferent disciplines .
Try questioning urself with USMLE WORLD. Review the answers.
Revise the whole thing again by RECALLING.
Now try reading FA.

wow thank u ever so much for taking out the time to not only read my question but lengthly explain your opinion. It's embaressing but reading your first paragraph on why its hard to just use FA and undersatnd it=how it was so unclear to me for some reason, but it is so self explanatory-u were completely dead on. your point on the notes being good enough, for kaplan, makes me relieved as i do not want to go through the extra notes i added in, its too much information for such a short amount of time.

kaplan more than enough to pass ateast in 80 even in 90
