Near the end of my Observer, thinking to get some gift to the attending. any suggestions? I wanted to give her a giftcard, but worry about whether it is appropriate.

give him/her something that can be useful everyday such as coach planner organizer..just 120-200 dollars..it is nothing if your attending will give you vr good LOR or talk w/ the program director... hope this helps

I would just give a nice box of chocolates.....spending over a hundred dollars is a too much and may actually come off as a bit odd.....a nice box of chocolates is respectful, thoughtful, and appropriate considering the fact that you were essentially a "student" while observing.....Further, your attending can share it with the staff and everyone will like it..... This all just my humble opinion.....I'm finishing up my externship on Monday and thats what I'm planing on doing.... Good luck!
