The prevalence of a disease is three times greater in nonwhites than in whites, but the incidence of the disease is no different in whites than in nonwhites. Which of the following best explains these findings?

A) The case fatality rate is higher among nonwhites
B) The duration of the disease is shorter in whites
C) Nonwhites use medical care facilities more often than whites
D) The number of new cases in nonwhites is increasing
E) The proportion of asymptomatic cases is higher in nonwhites

ok the basics
incidense = new cases
prevalence = all the cases

SO:
E and D is not correct because they have the same incidence

C is not correct because then they would have lower prevalence

SO
it could be iether A or B and when you get there you do minimini mo

well if the case fatality is higher in nonwhites...then the prevalence of disease in non whites would be lower so it cannot be A.....only B makes sense

  #4

b when prevalence = incidence * duration ...so here duration makes the difference

  #5

B

gogeta it cant be A because if case fatality is higher then less amount of population will have the disease at any given point in time due to early death.

A and B are same but for different groups.
A is saying white die faster. Dec Prevalence in whites.

B is saying non white die/recover faster.. Dec Prevalence nonwhite if they die and Increasing incidence if they recover.
