Apply for it right now. It takes around one week for the time to start to count, if you are in USA, but the thing is that you may not find the date you want in the Prometric you want if you apply much later. The slots could all be taken by then.

I don't know why the period is not flexible, but doing an NBME will tell you if you will be ready before November or not, I think. The more you wait, the riskier it is that you are not going to find a close date to sit for it. It all depends on how your interviews schedule will be, too.

hey arlete, did u waive ur right to see d LORs or not??? wot's d advantage of waiving ur right ?? wot a big mistake i did is i sent my LORs with my other documents without coversheet as i personally was sending them it meant i did not waive my right.....that's ok but the problem is my US LOR writers, all 3 of them has signed with black ink, n i have already sent them...........so frustrated right now!!!!!!!

I waived the right to see them. Word is that that puts the authors more at ease to write whatever about you, so whoever reads thinks it's more sincere. Whatever... I think if the candidate is strong, that will be such a small detail... I have a few LORs with me, in case my other authors don't send the letters I asked for in the next two weeks, I'll use these non-waived ones. The thing is: doctors are very busy and many of them are on vacation now. But I think it's not a big thing. You may get lucky about the black ink issue. Sometimes, although the letter was signed with a black ink pen, one is still able to differentiate it from a copy. According to bbb, even if it has the "copy" stamp, it's not a big thing, either. So don't fret, do what is in your reach to be a better candidate, the rest, is God working His way to get you where he wants you to be!

DR. ELSADIG: It may help, but you are going to learn more reading the question than learning the answer. For example: The question will tell you the symptoms, the labs, give you the diagnosis (which would be the question for 2 CK) and ask the treatment/next step (which is the question for step 3). I, personally, wouldn't use it, because you will waste a valuable tool for step 3 (you'll have recall bias later on!). I would go for Kaplan q-bank, another text book, review my notes, things like that. Maybe even do uw again, since you've finished long time ago. I would read each answer completely, even the ones I got right. Good luck!

Both. The part in FA for ccs is very good, and Crush is good for MCQs.

Hi, I'm new to this site. I see a lot of people posting that they had really good scores. Thats really great. I recently took step 3 and I'm pretty sure I failed. The mcq were ok but I got really flustered on the ccs section. I have trouble remembering it's just a game. I want to see the patient. Had trouble remembering what I'd ordered and got lost trying to review. Also I couldn't figure out how to discontinue orders. I studied the usmlesteps 123 ccs cases, but I'm not very computer literate and had trouble navigating the ccs program format. Or maybe I'm just stupid. I know most people these days are a whiz at computers - I can't even type very well. I haven't got my score back yet, but I want to be ready to take it again. I'm not in a program and not working now. Can't find anyone to help me with the ccs protocol. Any help appreciated.

The secret for ccs is playing a lot with the software from the USMLE website and keeping yourself cool during the test. I had a lot of pop-ups saying the patient was not getting better, was concerned, in pain and things like that, and it made me feel like I was doing something wrong or missing something. And at the end, I was doing it right, I suppose, so it's a test for your assertiveness. Wait for the result. I even thought I could have failed because of ccs, and it was a big surprise when I got the results. I think yours may not be "fail", especially if the MCQs were fine. If you feel you need to go ahead and practice the ccs again, use the ccs part of First Aid, write down the commands like they are in the software, until you feel you are very confortable with them. Let me know, OK?
