I would like to know what "low grades" during medical school means. is tehere a standardized cutoff point? i have around 8,50 in all my 6 years...will I be able to apply for Internal Medicine?

My step one score is 94.

It just refers to how good a student you were in med school, and where you stood when compared to your classmates. Only USMLE scores are taken as standardized scores for IMGs. When people talk of low grades on these forums, they basically refer to things such as low/failing marks on school tests and whether they had to repeat a course etc.
Your Step 1 score is pretty good btw. Maintain it or do better on the other ones too. Good luck.

I used to have the same question.. I did pretty basic and average in school, but I am hoping that won't matter as much as usmle scores. I did good otherwise in usmle, finished with step3 as well and I am hoping that will matter the most.

From all that I know, your medical school performance matters only when it has been extraordinary.. Which will show very nicely on your MSPE. If your med school does not give you a detailed MSPE, do mention all your big achievements / gold medals / stellar scores in your resume or somewhere..(maybe ur personal statement or interview)... If you have something, SELL IT!, bigtime!..

If you didnt do too well in med school, dont fret.. PDs dont care a lot about it... less for IMGs..
