Does that mean the marks sheet of each year of MBBS separately ( that would be 4 of them ) or a consolidated marks sheet ( one paper bearing all the subjects, years of study, scores obtained ) ?

Official means they want the real one ( all 4 or just the consolidated one) or a photocopy with attestation done from the same college?

The official transcript means the hour or days summation in all the subjects in your medical school, in addition to that you can send your marksheets, everything photocopy. The only documents that u send in original are lors and mspe.

Do we have to send our marksheets too along with transcript to ECFMG? The transcript which our college issued us includes only clock hours of each subject/specialty and that's it. Its only one page. I didn't even send my marksheets to ECFMG during verification of my credentials with med school and they have already been varified. So what I understand is that transcript doesn't necessorilly include marksheets of our med school. Correct me if I am wrong.

well i never found any ahrd and fast rule for types or number of transcripts but when i asked a few of my friends in US they said following were the transcripts that they usually sent

1. consolidated marks transcripts (this is not the marksheets but a transcript including all ur 3 proffesional exam scores in one sheet)
2. hours transcript- giving sum of hours of credit; this usually works for pre and paraclincial subjects
3. weeks transcripts --number of weeks u worked, usually for clinical subjects

this might not be what all universities issues...mostly ERAS and ECFMG will not question and anything U send as transcripts will get sent to ur programs...whether they live up to what ur program expects is another matter

most problems from transcripts arise later during licensing because then those hours are put to scrutiny to see if u qualify to get license

so lastly to ans ur question darshan, is there any way u can convey ur marks in med school to the programs u are applying to other than transcripts?? no...so i suggest (and its just a suggestion) u ask ur univ to give u a marks transcript too...and if they dont then send in ur marks sheet
also of course write ur query to ERAS wink
