I will be taking step 1 in Jul and CK in september end. So, I'll be certified only by mid-late october. The big dilemma for me here is that should i apply on Sep 1st with just step1 score and CS passed or should I wait till I have my CK score reported in Oct ( which would be a bit late to apply). What I'm asking here is that once a program considers my application, would they review it at a later date if I tell them that my CK score has been reported..

thats not the best case scenario, but you should definetely apply early with which ever result you have. I applied with step 1 in sept and got my cs in oct and step 2 in nov eventually got about 12 interviews out of 40 applied to. they review your application each time a new result is reported esp if they already are interestred. good luck

If your step 1 score is 90+ (it will be, it will be!!!), you can afford to apply early. I've heard of people being called for interviews in good programs with only those results. You have the option to have the step 2 CK result updated as soon as possible automatically, so I think it's worth.

I think the packaging is wothr more than a 90+
I did not have a 90+ in step 1 neither did my sister and we both got over 3 interviews before our cs results were reported and long before our step 2 results and she applied in 06 and I last year.
so PACKAGING!!!!!

Wow.. thank you guys, thats encouraging.. I hope I am able to pull it off.. have been getting a lot of "dont do it"s, "its impossible"s and "forget it dude"s from people around me..  'cos the trend in my college is that most people are certified at the time of application, if not, they just wait for an year...
Hey, E20, could you please tell me what credentials helped you get iv calls inspite of having just step 1 score and that too not in the 90s... are u an IMG? did you need a visa..? And what really do you mean by packaging?

Hi hitesh,
I have almost the same question as you. I have only Step 1 (251/99) now and don't know which one to take first (CK/CS??). I am thinking about taking CK in early Aug and CS in late Aug, but still haven't decided yet  . I just emailed some program directors today and hope that they'll respond to me. So stressed out about the timing.
By the way, good luck for the coming Step 1.

i have step 1 result 249/99
cs will get by august
but step 2 probably i will get results by mid-september..
what do i do?

I think you should go for ck first... and yea, early august would be a good time..
PDs dont care a lot about CS usually. They know most people are gonna pass it.. They'd definitely like to see your CK scores.. Although your stellar score in step 1 would say a lot, but still it'd be better if you had ck score as well at the time of application.. And in any case, if you take CS first, you wont have either CK or CS result at the time of application... Isnt 2 better than one?  take CK first !
The only problem here is that CS dates are not easily available.. Do you have one already? Infact, If you apply now, the earliest date you might get would be around nov/dec. (Its just a guess, I may be way off). Bottomline : apply for a cs date ASAP, if you dont have one already..

You have absolutely nothing to worry about.. Just apply early september.. Very few programs download applications in the first half of sep.. And in any case, you can always update them when you have your result.. Good Luck!

Hi hitesh,
I applied for CS on June 10 and found out that ECFMG had some issue with my diploma. I faxed it to them on Thursday, and I got the permit on Friday!! I've been sitting in front of my computer for two days since then and luckily got a spot on 7/17! There are so many other things that I have to do between now and early July, so I'd just settle with the date. My CK is likely to be in mid or late Aug now. I don't want to screw my exams just to finish application by September. Anyway, wish you the best for the coming Step 1!!
