Pt's BP 76/55
By Swan-Ganz: RAP high, RVP low, PCWP low, CO decreased, SVR normal.
What kind of shock is it ?

  #2

Is it dehydration...or may be cardiogenic..More confident on shock due to dehydration...not sure..

  #3

dehydration shock? ...maybe you mean hypovolemic shock...

CVP = right atrial pressure (RAP) = right-ventricle end-diastolic press (RVEDP) (Right Ventricle Preload) = any neck vein catheter or jugular venous pressure.

so why RAP high...? thats cardiogenic... but PCWP would also be high

SVR normal... maybe the hypovolemia is early?

and what is RVP low with high RAP...

too complex for my understanding...

  #4

yer right..it lacks a bit of info...by the way..from dehydration I meant hypovolaemic shock..but ' dehydration' is a term that's mentioned a bit too boldly in UW under this shock classification question..
Anyways..Peter..hasn't your dp cat got horner syndrome?

  #5

lol grin

so its got ptosis, anhydrosis i cant say, but definitely not miosis smiling face ... so maybe partial horner ?

more likely its just a weakness of levator palpebrae superioris...

right, cardiogenic shock, right heart.

Incr RAP - due to back up blood, poor RV contraction, actually RV MI.
In hypovolemic shock SVR would be increased

PE might will have incr RA and RV pressures?

  #8

PE sometime can get increased RV pressure, not always like that.
