Is there anybody out ther that has experience changing form one specialty (lest say Qx, or IM) to OB? Do you think that being a resident is a plus? any thoughts on the topic are greatly appreciated

Hi AnaMGarcia, Yes, it is doable and this was the advice, which my ObGyn gave me. They had a few people who switched to ObGyn from Family Medicine. It also works the other way around. Last year there was a resident in ObGyn at Lutheran General in Chicago who switched to Family Medicine as far as I know. It is very common to do a second residency in ObGyn after FamMed - i personally know 2 people who did that. It is always a plus to be a resident - once you are in the system it is easier to move around laterally, plus the FMG stigma is somewhat forgotten at that point. I have a question: what happened to the Cook County residency program in ObGyn in Chicago - now they are missing in FREIDA. Did they got stripped of residency privileges?
