When you have a patient with alergy on sulfa drug, would you give him furosemid over tiazides? Because tiazides are in cross reaction with sylfonamides. I want to make sure this is correct? Apologize for writing this Q under patlogy section. Thanks!

Isn't thiazide considered sulfa? Sulfa allergic patients should get furosemide since you risk allergy with HTZ.

furosemida is a sulfa so a patient with sulfas alergy , you shouldnt give furosemide

u give only Ethacrynic acid,

IT is in FA page 390 (2006)....clinical use of ethacrynic acid is diuresis in pts allergic to sulfa drugs...

both furosemide and thiazides cause Sulfa allergies.
