i failed step 1 got really bad score...i want to give my second try, plz kindly let me know in how much time period i can give second try n how to proceed with it.

What sources did you use and how long did you study for it.
Did you do the qbank or usmleworld how about the nbme tests
What did you score in these banks?
You just have to buckle down look at your score sheet start with the weakest areas,
go over first aid and make sure you understand the concepts from the q banks.
After that do a nbme and that should give you a good idea of where you stand.

time period was 9 months but proper study in last four months.. did KLN whole twice n few subjects 4 and 5 times, did UW and Q bank twice from books..gave nbme on last week as i got to know only den abt it and scored 75%...plz tell me till when i can appear again and how to apply for it?

Dude you got to recall the facts as well as integrate different subjects and understand how they are asking the questions and most importantly why you got the questions wrong.
What i suggest you do is subscribe to the usmleworld online do all the questions read all the explanations even the right ones and get the concepts down.This way you will also be able to compare your scores with the average and this will allow you to analyze the mistakes you are making.
Once you are done with this do an online nmbe and simulate the actual exam conditions that will tell you if you are ready or not.
I would say you give yourself 2 to 3months just to be safe.
I will say this again look at your score report and start with you weakest areas.

sorry to hear that...
I am not in a position to advise but just wanted to say the followings:
1) plz try to listen to Dr. Goljan's lectures many many times,
2) you already have done alot of hard work and you are almost there....so plz do not take a big gap ....rest a little but start again asap...so u won't forget what u already know...and believe me u know already a lot but have to wrap all yr knowledge up
3) use UW as was advised prev online and do it in timed mode
4) trust yrself..this exam is hard for all...make sure u do NBME this time when u hv enough time to postpone if required,
5) practice all of the NBME forms offline...
6) try to do it intensively rather than over a long period...try to read efficiently...do not get into every litttle details...try to get the big pictures...
7) do not use any new book...read what ever u hv read so far...but this time...BIG PICTURE...
8) I like FA cases...but again i am just saying this...I am myself struggling to get there so i am sure u can get appropriate advises from people that already are there
keep in touch wt this forum and ask for more help if needed...having a prep journal is a good idea too...
sorry don't know when u can retake the test...u can post that q in the support forum...
there are so many people like u that didn't make it first time but passed or even got 99(SOS) the second time...u can read thru SOS's exam experience and prep journal,
U WILL DO IT THIS TIME...

hey buddy sorry to hear that, but god thnk ur already thinking about taking it again, shows u dont want to give up!! did u take any nbme's before, bc honestly no matter what ur percents and qbank scores are, if u dont do descent on nbme, or unless osmething crazy happens at ur test center the day u take it, u should be passing if ur nbme is in passing range.. first ad foremost i suggest u take those, just seeing where u stand bc ur bank score is very good!! it doesnt add up....
bc if ur nbme says u did great, and u still failed, then maybe it's an anxiety issue and for that u jsut have to keep on doing timed mixed questions and do uworld bank his time... that's wat i would do, b/c doing FA that many times and kaplan twice and such a high bank score, it's not adding up friend.. good luck for next time, and keep at it, u will do well, just focus!

hey dr shummyla99.hi. i am so sorry to here about but dont worry u r almost there i myself cud nt clear by some % i got 70% on my exam usmle 1 so it is frustating all those hard work of day and night and then faliled by some marks . but dont worry u almost there dont waste ur time on self pity as i did i was ted 2 months moaning but it was useless so pl dont do that there r lot of us like u and we all will get thru just a bit of consistency and hard work and determination i did one mistake i di not here golgen at all i will do it this time so cheer up we all r with u keep coming here on this forum here our friends r very encouraging and it really help ok so no worry friend we r with u

simran, i got 73 on my 2 digit score... will i still make it to match 2009 if i still have to take stpe 1 and ck. i passed my CS already.

Hey guys i failed too... Taken May 20. Now simultaneously preparing for step1 and 2ck. Will take them 1 month apart.In life, we should not look @impossibilities, we should rather create possibilities! Can i still make it for 2009 match? Not even done cs. Please help. Advise needed.

hi botchy hi fuobs the key to success is to think positive and also never give up i am back to writting after a break from tom i am starting to do revision thru first aid and kaplan books will start with behavioral so come on guys and girls gear up we can do this we can crack the board keep encouraging each other we can do it GL hi to study 499 hi hottie and all of u there

hey guys! keep up the hard work, not all of us can be 99ers (i'm completely excluded from that club but im ok with it now!) just keep ur focus and keep at it guys, it will click one day and u will see the questions differently and it does help for step 2 (even tho i did it opposite, felt more comfy with clinical stuff).. just wanted to drop in and encourage u all that it will be done, stop worrying about prev attempts and fails and if u'll get residency.. if u keep focusing on that, u hold urself back from the current exam u studying for and without passing the one u studying for, u can't move fwd... just keep at it, work hard and dont drag it out too long, that's my advice, we all will never know enuff for the exams, u just have to trust ur judgement and do well and perform without anxiety the day of u exam.. best of luck guys!!
