The following USMLE exam question is based on a true story. A professional poker player is extradited to face child support charges. The defendant is held in lieu of 200 000 $ cash bail – the amount, including interest he allegedly owes the mother of his 17 year old son. Ipwnpoker.com reported that the defendant began playing poker in 2004 and he has won more than 50 000$ since 2005. What should the defendant do?

1) Pay the mother
2) Pay the son, but forget the mother
3) Do not pay and make a run for it
4) Start crying in grief, contemplating how many hours of poker he can play with 200 000$
