4) Pagets dz----increased alkaline phosphatase

calcium pyrophosphate---positively birefringent

8) M. gravis---antibodies against Ach receptors

1) chylomicrons ? ----diet derived TG's , the stuff we eat at mc. donalds :P ,saturated fat.

VLDL---endogenous TG's , remember it is made thru the glyclolysis pathway where DHAP to glycerol-3-phosphate goes which is a NADH rn.

2) famililal hypercholesterolemia----absent LDL receptor and xanthomas can be seen, AD.

3) HYALINE arteriosclerosis----seeen in diabetes(due to nonenzymatic glycosylation) and HTN(due to bruit forces)

4) HYPERPLASTIC arteriosclerosis---seen in malignant HTN.

5) Tertiary syphilis----aneurysm of arch of aorta, endartertis obliterans, aortic regurg. due to stretching of valve ring.

6) dissecting aortic aneurysm---tearing pain radiated to the back , egs are CMD, MARFAN syndrome, EHLER DANLOS and pregnant women.

7) superior vena cava syndrome----ass. with knocking off of SVC by lung cancer so retinal vein engorgement, neck veins distention.

1) sturge weber syndrome----remember AV malformation on same side of the face and the brain ,

2)Hyperesterinism----gynecomastia, warm skin, palmar erythema, spider angioma.

3) angiosarcoma of the liver---Vinyl chloride and arsenic

4) bacillary angiomatosis---bartnella hansilai , silver stain, seen only in AIDS pts. and looks like kaposi's

5) palpable purpura---small vessel vasculitis

Hi match2010 ,wow great ,goljan rocks isnt he? yeah chylo---diet derived TGs, VLDL--liver ,strug-webber--AV ipsilateral face n brain with some mental retardation, im happy i too rememeber these points yipeee (saying along with usmlekiller hehhehe)

i liked how he differentiated small,medium,large vasculitis like palpable purpra,thrombosis,and stroke respectively.

thanks for points,will be reading them as well daily..

1) Type III hyperlipoprotenimia-----def. of apoE, so increased in remnants.

2) Type IV hyperlipopronemia----increased VLDL, MC lipid disorder

3) Abetalipoprotenimia---def. of B48 and B100 so nothing will be reabsorbed from gut and thus def. of cholesterol and TG''s.

4) C reactive protein---marker of disrupted fibrous plaques

5) Abdominal aorta---MC site for athersclerosis as there is no vasa vasorum below renal artery.

6) Rupture triad for AAA----severe flank pain, hypotension and blood loss in retroperitoneum

7) Adson test---pulse disappears when the arm is outstrecthed and pt. looks to the side of the arm, seen in thoracic outlet syndrome commonly in weight lifters.
