sally ,expectant mother with 14 weeks pregnancy has come for evaluation. physical examinaton revealed HB 12G/dL ,HR:103/mt,BP 130/90 mm of Hg, and temperature 98.6 F. She gives the histrory of diabetes for which she is taking oral hypoglycemic drugs and it is in good controll. what is the most appropriate method of investigation to find out malformations in foetus?
a.ultrasound
b.MS-AFP
C.FOETAL ECHO
D.chorinoic villous bipsy

B. MS-AFP
After 13 wks amniotic fluid AFP level decreses, MSAFP increases.
90% sensitive but only 7% specific.

The pt has come at 14 weeks. tripple screening is done between 15 to 18 week. Before that ultrasound should be the tool of choice. Patients age is not told. So can't comment on amiocentesis.
