Which part of the brain is most sensitive to hypoxia/anoxia? I was just wondering if there is ischemic damage to the brain, which part is the most vulnerable to be damaged first? please, let me know exaclty. Thanks

I am pretty sure it is Amigdala, but if you give me some options I can tell you for sure what else is very vulnerable to hypoxia.

Neurons in the hippocampus are highly sensitive to oxygen deprivation, that's why the first symptom to show up is short-term memory loss.

Apart from hippocampus there is the purkinje cell layer of cerebellar cortex and pyramidal cells in layers 3 and 5 of cerebral cortex.

Hope this helps.
