RDS is used synonmously with respiratory distress caused in premature babies due to immature lung developement (there is a nomenclature called RDS II used for transient tachypnea of newborn) RDS management is mostly surfactant and PEEP maintainence (either by CPAP or by Invasive ventillation)...u need more details try this http://www.rcjournal.com/contents/03.03/03.03.027... thyroid receptor are present on and necessary for enchondral bone formation...I always thought the absence of thyroid therefore delayed bone formation (later too bone age lag behinds chronological age)....but I could be wrong
