is there any requirement for a proof of english proficiency for getting into observership etc. if so what?toefl?? thanks

It depends on the program you're applying to. Some need it, some dont. Some will accept step 1 pass status as proof of english proficiency, some may need toefl. Just ask the program you'll be applying to.

TOEFL is a very simple exam, no need to study for it, just go and clear it

It really depends on your background. If you talk in english a lot and feel pretty comfortable doing it, TOEFL will be a piece of cake.. I read a bit for it just for one day and I got a 118/120 Good luck!
