Hi .... i am just going to start preparing for step 1..i hav 2 more years of medical school to complete... But before starting off i was wondering if i can really afford this...Some people said u need to buy review books for every subject.. i want to know from Indian students who have completed some or all the steps, how much all this cost u? The exam itself costs pretty much..rite?.... And how much does kaplan lecture notes cost in India? from where do u get them?.............Thanks in advance to all replies

8. Costs
Take A deep Breath !!!!!!!!!!!! 
• USMLE 1 $825
• USMLE 2 $800
• (USMLE 3 $670 + travel [only if H-visa sought])
• CSA $1200 + travel
• ERAS $185 (Minimum)
• NRMP $40
• State license $240
• Interviews $1000 + travel
• ESTIMATED TOTAL $5,000 + travel to the US (two trips if H-visa
sought - one for USMLE 3, one for CSA with interviews)
• (total cost can run upto $10,000 depending on how long you stay in
US and how many programs you apply to)

A typical Indian IMG applies to at least 100 programs. So, add another $2000 to it..
