Somebody please tell me if shadowing a physician in ER is considered as an USCE.I am shadowing a ER physician in a university based hospital.We also discuss about many patient cases.I will try to get LOR and letter of shadowing.So please tell me if that would be sufficient for my USCE when i apply for residency?Please mail me soon.

yes it would be considered USCE...i had 2 weeks of ER and i included that as USCE...
Sufficient or not would depend on duration and what u plan to apply in...having some floor experience also would be good i guess but if u cant get that then this too is alright as USCE

Hi Mukho,i plan to apply in FM.I am going there for past 6 months,mostly on wknds,I am writing my hours too.I am a lot relaxed now to hear from you.I have full time job besides this so that limit my time.Also pls check my reply to u in match support in post labelled as apply with two scores.

regarding USCE as long as ur LOR writer indicates that u actually got a meaningful experience it is good...doing it part time may complicate it a bit...u should consider calling and asking programs explaining it...even talking to a few programs may give u a general idea of how cool programs are with it...all the best...it must be hard juggling so much at one time..

Hi Mukho,i will follow your advice.Do i need to get additional letter regarding USCE except LOR,or just LOR would be enough as they r gonna mention that in LOR.Please reply me soon.

I did obs from 2 institutes and got a letter stating that I did observership specifically from only 1 place,.... and even that no one ever asked for neither in the application nor at teh interview....they just asked for the LORs...but if ur getting it easily, take it, just to be on the safe side
