Hi Melu,
You are making a good progress. Try to make best use of time till your sister is around. Lucky you....you are having help. I am just in the opposite situation...first my in laws were here and after they left the very third day my elder brother-in-law arrived. It has been 3 months now since he has been staying with us. He is on a job hunt..so doesn't goes anywhere during the entire day. As he is in the house..I am basically spending my whole day in the kitchen cooking meals four times a day. Still I am trying to read something ( a few pages...if that is not possible atleast a few lines) everyday. My main goal at present is to atleast maintain the flow of studying. I know once I will take a complete break it will take me months or may be even years to get back to studies. Pray for me...may God give me the motivation and strength that I need to maintain my studies even during these hyperbusy times.

Did not enter much to the Journal from past 3 days as I felt I had nothing to write. Was in front of the books but could not finish anything substantially .Would be half done with all the chapters.Somehow I slogged and now I am almost done with biochem. But definitely need to keep revising.Situation was to blame too, had a day of stomach upset ,another day wasted for other conflicts. But the good thing is, I did not loose motivation.smiling facenodsmiling face yaayy......................!!!

POINT TO BE NOTED:I got stuck with biochem as I felt saturated. I was in front of the books more than ever but not much was registering in my brain. To avoid saturation, I am planning to revise a subject by side as I study a new one.

I am planning to start Physio from tomorrow and revise Biochem alongside,1hr/day.

Met an IMG mom who is doing her fellowship , she gave a lot of info to applying residency in the nearby hospitals. The thing that scared me was, she said that we need to spend around 16hrs/ day for USMLE preparation which I probably can't even dream off...

For today, my quote is,

A successful person is one who can lay firm foundation with bricks that others throw at him or her. -David Brinkley

AIM FOR TODAY :Complete biochem +Come up with a study plan .

THEY CAN CONQUER WHO BELIVE THEY CAN! -Virgil

Hi Melu!
How's it going???
I too was away from the journal world all these days,.struggling to complete biochem. Finally done with it! It took a long time , didnt it? But I think it was worth the time and effort!
Doing 2 subject is a great idea! Makes it less monotonous! And the revision( short gap between reads) will etch the concepts in the grey matternod!

Your IMG mom said what...?16 hrs a day!!!shocked... some geniuses have 30 hrs in a day... Dont know how they do itshaking head... Guess that's what time management is all about!confused

Hey, you know what .. make a plannod... you will feel like following it! It will keep you motivated, make you jump up from bed each morning, with an urge to achieve your target... and the sense of achieving it will make you do more!
So even it the saying goes, "the more you plan , the harder destiny hits you"... still I cannot imagine doing anything without making the blueprintgrin. I know there are people who do well without all the trouble of planning, but if you are not one of them, then make your schedule ASAP!nod
But remember, all days will not be ideal days....there will be good days and bad...but still we can try!!!!!!
Good luck!

Thanks Miti.

Thanks usmlesavvy,I needed to be reminded of that sooner or later. One of the reasons I was hesitating to make a study plan was not able to keep one due to a lot of uncertainties. But as you said we need to see a goal to walk to it, hmm,mm , that is very true.
I also took tips from your plan to device mine.

I am planning to do Immunology followed by Microbiology .I will be using KAPLAN lecture notes for now.

The main reason why I decided to do Micro/Immuno is to buy time to revise Biochem by the side. As an old grad I need to revise and revise till I etch it in my grey matter it!!!

I have planned to do revision of Anat+embryology along first reading of Physio and Patho system wise after that.

Got to go..will be back

Thanks for visiting my journal.
I don't want to write the details here....as a hint I will just say that my family-life is currently going through hell.
Everyday I go to the verge of breaking down but then I tell myself that may be it is just a passing phase and will pass by. What to say more...I am keeping my fingers crossed that the "May good and happy days will come back to my Family soon...Family to which I give priority over anything else in the world."

Starting a new subject is always exciting, but I end up getting stuck in the middle.Being away from books for so longconfused. As and when I am finishing any chapter of subject I have very less satisfaction.Need to get more revisions.confused

At this point I feel more stressed out, reasons,

 • Not utilising time efficiently.shaking head
 • Not been able to go the library, first it was for genuine reasons now it is just convinience
 • End up studying late nights, not getting enough sleep.sad
 • No satisfaction!!!!

Ultimate advice for myself ............Not all enough, need to do much,MUCH MUCH BETTER , NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sadmad

Miti, this is the last chance for us.Let's keep our spirit alive and be positive.Imagine yourself after 5 yrs.Do you want to be doing the same things and feel more frustated.shaking headshaking headdisapproval Lets put all our strenght and heart into it and move on,reach out for our aim!!!!!!!

Completed till Chap 7, IMMUNOLOGY

FOR TODAY:

Chap 8.The generator of cell mediated-effector mechanism

Chap 9.The generation of immunological memory

Yes, this is the time for us to put all our strength and heart into the prep. For me however the circumstances are just not favourable. I am trying to convince my husband that I need to be focussed on my studies now...the day he will get convinced and more importantly the day this irritating relative will leave from my house,I promise you I will jump into the prep marathon with all my heart and strength.
By the way you are doing really GOOD. Maintain the spirit.

Hi Melu,

Keep it going. There will be obstacles and distractions along the way but try and stay consistent, you will suceed.

Best wishes

  #39

Thanks Simon, I will definitely work on being steady.smiling face

Hey Miti, wish you all the best, will be waiting for you .grin

My preparation is becoming promising as I have started to spend time in the library now. I am crossing my fingers ,hoping I can regularly do this without any interruption.

Done until Chap 13, IMMUNOLOGY. Today just revised it once again. Tomorrow will be done with Immuno and probably taking up Micro.

Done with Immunology .However I am not 100% confident with it.

A lot of new terms .Was tougher than Biochemistry. Though the lecture videos are very good the KAPLAN Lecture notes were not very impressive. But the part what I best liked about Kaplan Immuno is the the chapters were short.

I am thinking finish revising Biochem tomorrow.rolling eyes

Then I would be done with FIRST READING OF Biochemistry(Genetics included, Anatomy, not completely), Behavioural science and Immuno.

Still need to cover Micro,Physio,Pathology and Pharmacology.

Thinking of starting Pathology and physiology systemwise after Microbiology
