Hi friends,
OASIS shows that ECFMG recieved my medical education credentials on 31st March 2008, thats almost 7 weeks back. However, they're still showing that the verification is pending.
Last time I talked to the ECFMG guys they told me that sometimes this can take long, upto 6 weeks. But its 7 weeks now and still they show the same thing...'documents recieved 31st March but verification pending.'
Has anyone here had a similar experience or something close?
Should I contact ECFMG officials again or should I wait for some time?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

mine was recieved at feb 14 and it was verified at may 20th... i didnt call them at all...so i guess it takes time when they r busy...dont worry

yeah, 6 weeks is the minimum... wait and be patient. after 8-9 weeks of no result you might call them to find out what's going on. If you are planning on participating in next year's match be aware that if they have to re-send it to your med school (something is missing) it will take again several months (shipping, delay at your school, verification time at ECFMG, etc..). My verification took 7 months- for whatever reason ECFMG did not start the process right away when they received my diploma, then the documents had to be re-sent because something was misssing the first time...but it all turned out well and I was on time for application begin.

Man u r scaring the wits outta me.
Of course i'm lookin to participate in the match this time round.
Dont know why they aint movin forward on my stuff.
May be they'r just lazy. They'd been gettin all my stuff done quick early on, dont know wats gone wrong with them this time.
Just hopin to see the verification thing done sometime soon.
Cant have them spend 7 months on my thing. Nope.

13th march to 14th may...thats how long it took mine
am sure it will get done in time for the match..sept is still many mnths away...and after all the force is with u

I heard we must finish Step1, CK and CS, then ECFMG will rush to finish verification and grant ECFMG Certification.
Me, too. Verification is pending for many months.

mine took about 5 months. but that is because my med school screwed up. so if it is taking unusually long no harm in calling up again to find out what went wrong. you can even contact your med school to ask if they received the documents for verification and if they were dispatched in time.

genbot, I did not mean to scare you by any means! I just shared my experience, which was also the fate of many others. it is a rare case that the verification takes less than 2 months even if everything goes well. I amjust telling you to be repared for any possibility. If (God forbid) your papers need to be re-sent, then ask ECFMG what was missing and contact your school directly to give them directions. That's waht I did, I could not afford any more delays. But there is a great chance that everything would be just fine!!! So stay calm, wait another wekk or two and then call ECFMG to find out what the deal is. Good luck!

same here man...
i send all the documents in january...but they found something missing and resend verification to college on april 18th...
my college received this verification on may 11th...they did send back and ecfmg has received on may 17th.
no updates yet on ecfmg website...hope everythng goes well this time...i wana give step3..

so if i recieve my diploma in sept this year and then send it for verification, and something goes missing and it takes months, i should keep in mind the possibility of not being able to participate in this match?
is it possible to match without getting certified ( credentials not verified )?

Yes, you're right, lakshya, that progs will not rank a candidate who is not ECFMG certified [the max they give you is by mid-Feb, though other progs may require it prior to that.]. Let alone the fact that you cannot take Step 3, and be eligible for H1B. But, don't dwell on that, just do everything on your part, which also includes praying!
Guys, I wish you all the best, and all the luck you need, to have creds verified asap. You've all worked so hard, and it's so unfair to have your brakes put on due to some clogged paperwork. It'll work out fine, people!
P.S. If I may ask, when did you folks send over your docs? Soon after applying for Step 1? Or later than that?
