when intubated pt have to have tidal volume 6 cc/kg and when 10 cc/kg?

Q from Kaplan - pt with emphysema, had bronchitis, on antibiotic, pH 7,2, pco2 60, po2 52

become tachipneic, pco2 rises to 74, intubated.

He is 85 kg, what TV should be in this setting?
options - 500, 600, 700, 850

T.V USED IS 10 -12 CC/KG BUT IN PATIENTS WITH ARDS USED 6-8 CC/KG BECAUASE HIGH T.V INCREASE RIESK FOR PNEUMOTHORAX

DECREASE PaO2 WHAT DO YOU DO ?

Is ARDS the only indication for 6cc/kg?
Step-Up says ARDS and COPD.

liliaeliz is right,,,,for COPD-10 cc/kg for ARDS-6cc/kg


in case of ...

increase po2: decrease fio2
decrease po2: increase fio2(maintain <60%) or increase PEEP or increase I/E ratio
increase pco2: increase TV or increase RR
