I think this could be a thread which would highlight some learning points ...but 7ooda see if u can edit that fun part...i cant even begin to emote how not fun it was.... That's right. applying late is the reason. I dun think the USCE affected her that much though. But 4 interviews with no match = not managing the interview that good. Thanks for sharing mukho.

So judgemental. I don't think 4IVs=bad IV skills. You need to have some 6 IVs on an average to be matched. May be the IVs were from big named programs.

I have done my fair share of thinking of what went wrong from poor interview skills, to rank order listing, to follow up with programs, to plain simple bad luck...no idea! But she stuck around and now she will start her residency with me So whatever it was got corrected pretty soon!

Well I thought I should follow with another comment the way mukho did. I have a friend that was graduated in 2004 (as I did), scores 93/97/passed CS on second attempt, needed visa, 1 month USCE obvership at Jackson Memorial, applied to around 40 programs in IM. Had applied to last year match in EM, did not make it (applied way late). He got 6 interviews in IM this year, attended 5, 1 of the programs withdrew from this year's match. The reasons we discussed why he didn't match were his English skills (which can really limit your ability to impress in an interview), and his short USCE experience. Also his lack of clinical experience since he graduated (he had been working as a CRO in a pharm company - not much clinical experience and I guess that some PDs value that you're still in contact with clinical medicine if you have been graduated for a few years). He had several interviews so I think his language skills may have hurt his chances. He is now getting more USCE and working on his english for this year match.
