The thread is for usmlers who got scores in the 90s and still didn't match.

The way to write it will be :

Scores :

Graduation year :

Visa Status :

Any USCE, U.S. LORs or Research :

The Reason you think why you didn't match :

In fact I dun know if a topic like that is already here or not. But I think it should be useful thread.

This are the info of one of my closest freinds...i am posting it because now she got a post scramble pgy2 position and thought it would give hope

Scores :99/99/pass/93 (first attempt)

Graduation year :2002 (post graduate from home country)

Visa Status :needs sponser

Any USCE, U.S. LORs or Research :1 mnth observership at a pvt clinic; 2 US LORS

The Reason you think why you didn't match : late application (oct end) not enuff usce...rest we (both of us) dont know...she had 5 interviews and attended 4.

I think this could be a thread which could highlight some learning points ...if taken in the right spirit

That's right. applying late is the reason. I dun think the USCE affected her that much though.

But 4 interviews with no match = not managing the interview that good.

Thanks for sharing mukho.

So judgemental. I don't think 4IVs=bad IV skills. You need to have some 6 IVs on an average to be matched.
May be the IVs were from big named programs.

I have done my fair share of thinking of what went wrong from poor interview skills, to rank order listing, to follow up with programs, to plain simple bad luck...no idea!
But she stuck around and now she will start her residency with mesmiling facenod So whatever it was got corrected pretty soon!

Man not matchin with a double 99 and 93 to boot on step3 is scary for sure!
Thankfully everythin got corrected in time.
So we stay hopeful. Yes!smiling facenod

Well I thought I should follow with another comment the way mukho did. I have a friend that was graduated in 2004 (as I did), scores 93/97/passed CS on second attempt, needed visa, 1 month USCE obvership at Jackson Memorial, applied to around 40 programs in IM. Had applied to last year match in EM, did not make it (applied way late). He got 6 interviews in IM this year, attended 5, 1 of the programs withdrew from this year's match.
The reasons we discussed why he didn't match were his English skills (which can really limit your ability to impress in an interview), and his short USCE experience. Also his lack of clinical experience since he graduated (he had been working as a CRO in a pharm company - not much clinical experience and I guess that some PDs value that you're still in contact with clinical medicine if you have been graduated for a few years). He had several interviews so I think his language skills may have hurt his chances.
He is now getting more USCE and working on his english for this year match.
