what is the first line of rx in a pt with mania?
in B& W given as -----carbamazepine,valproate
in kaplan---given as lithium

agree with hir and also for acute mgt of mania (eg agitated) use haloperidol.lithium takes 2-4 days for effect

yep acute mania is treated with haloperidol and not with lithium....!
u wanna calm down the buddy first!
